  1.      Only people designated by the Sysop as "AIDES" may perform the following
  2.  functions:

  4.    => Visit the hidden Aide> room.
  5.    => Delete messages
  6.    => Delete empty rooms
  7.    => Edit a room
  8.    => Kill a room
  9.    => Move/insert messages
  10.    => Make messages into net messages
  11.    => Journal messages (aide at sysConsole only)
  12.    => Copying files (sysops)
  13.  
  14.     Most changes are accounted for by the Citadel-86 system and are recorded
  15.  under
  16.  the aide's name in the Aide> room for scrutiny by other aides and Sysops.  If
  17.  a person is found to be abusing their aide privileges, such privilege may be
  18.  removed at the discretion of the Sysop.

  20.   Procedures are as follows:

  22.   TO MAKE AN UNNETTED MESSAGE INTO A NETTED MESSAGE:
  23.     (1) Hit <P>ause during type-out of the message
  24.     (2) Hit <D> to continue.
  25.     (3) The message will print out again for confirmation.
  26.     (4) The system will then print out
  27.                  "<M>ove <C>opy <D>elete <A>bort <N>et? (D/M/C/A/N) "
  28.     (5) Press <N> to make the message into a net message.  There will be a
  29.  short delay.

  31.   TO DELETE/MOVE MESSAGES:
  32.     (1) Hit <P>ause during type-out of the message to be deleted.
  33.     (2) Hit <D>elete to continue.
  34.     (3) The message will print out again for confirmation.
  35.     (4) The system will then print out
  36.                  "<M>ove <C>opy <D>elete <A>bort? (D/M/C/A) "
  37.  
  38.  If that is indeed the message to be deleted OR moved, then type <D> to delete
  39.  that message, or <M> to move that message. Type <A> if you decide that you
  40.  don't want to do anything with that message.
  41.       (4.a) If you select <M> above, then the system will ask you where:
  42.  "To where (C/R = '<some room>'): " where <some room> is the room where the
  43.  message will be inserted if you simply type a C/R. <some room> is always the
  44.  last room to where a message was moved, or it is the Aide room if the command
  45.  hasn't been used since the system was last brought up. Also, the message moved
  46.  becomes the message that will be used for the <.AI> command (<.AI> is detailed
  47.  later in this file).
  48.        Your name and a copy of the of the deleted/moved message will be
  49.  automatically
  50.  logged in Aide>.

  52.   TO JOURNAL A MESSAGE:
  53.     (1) Hit <P>ause during type-out of the message to be deleted.
  54.     (2) Hit <J>ournal to continue.
  55.     (3) The system will ask for a filename to save or append the given message
  56.  to.
  57.     An empty return at this point will abort the operation.  Anything else will
  58.  cause the system to attempt to either A) append to the given file or B) create
  59.  the given file if it does not yet exist.  A failure (caused by who knows what)
  60.  will cause the system to quit trying. If successful, the message will have
  61.  been saved in a text file.
  62.     NOTE: At present, this capability is restricted to Sysops.

  64.   TO DELETE EMPTY ROOMS:
  65.        The ".<A>ide <D>elete" command will eliminate all empty rooms in the system,
  66.  except for permanent and directory rooms.  This will be logged under your
  67.  name in Aide>.

  69.   TO EDIT A ROOM:
  70.        The ".<A>ide <E>dit" command will allow you to edit the room you are in.
  71.  Type a '?' to find out what you can do with the 'room edit' prompt that you
  72.  should get.  All important changes are recorded in the Aide> room.

  74.   TO INSERT A MESSAGE:
  75.        The ".<A>ide <I>nsert" command will insert the last message you deleted into
  76.  the room you are currently in.  This will be logged under your name in Aide>.

  78.   TO KILL A ROOM:
  79.        The ".<A>ide <K>ill" command will delete the room you are in, regardless of
  80.  contents.  This will be logged under your name in Aide>.

  82.   COPYING FILES:
  83.        Files may be copied into directory rooms by going to the target directory
  84.  room and typing ".<A>ide <A>dd-File".  The aide is prompted for a file (can include
  85.  full path), and if the copy is successful, for a file description.

  87.   NOTE: For obvious reasons, these commands cannot be used to modify Aide>
  88.  itself.   "Deleting" a message in Aide> will >not< remove it from Aide>, but
  89.  >will< make it "most recently deleted" for purposes of inserting the message
  90.  elsewhere.
